The Union, being an island nation, has several strong and weak points for being able to defend itself. On one hand it can easily defend itself from incoming threats but on the other hand these threats can come from any direction. It is because of the latter that the commander of the armed forces, High President Timothy Jacks, ordered a strong defence network to be built inland and on the coasts of the nation.
This defensive network would have all the means to defend the island even through the strongest attacks. It would need to be able to identify targets from many miles away and would have to be able to track and eliminate these targets independently.
Coastal Defence:
The coastal defence bases, one located every 27 miles on suitable coastline, are all identical with each one featuring several missile batteries, a small dock, a small landing strip with several helipads and a hangar, a headquarters, several barracks and garages and the required radar installations to scan for threats.
Soldiers per base: 170 soldiers.
Accomidations: Upto 800 soldiers.
Arms per base:
Located on each base is a small force ment to act as both the bases defences and a small interception force in case any enemies land ashore.
- Aircraft.
-> 1 Blackburn Battleaxe MRA.2.
-> 2 SH-65A Dolphin.
-> 2 TRA-92 Eiko.
- Vehicles.
-> 1 LY471 Skyguard system.
-> 1 LY7 Rottweiler.
-> 2 Praetor IFV.
-> 5 VAE Armored Cars.
-> 10 PHX R-703 Motorbikes.
- Naval vessels.
-> 1 Lancer II-class patrol boat.
Inland defence:
The inland defence network is a series of reinforced undeground tunnels running throughout the entire nation. The largest ones, located under the major highways, allow for heavy equipment such as Tanks, IFV, APC and many other vehicles to move from place to place discretely. These larger tunnels connect to all sizeable military bases and cities but no where else.
Another system of smaller tunnels runs throughout the entire nation. These tunnels allow personell and smaller equipment to be transported from place to place discretely and allow the armed forces to utilize hit and run and ambush tactics well. Unlike the larger tunnels these smaller ones have exit/entrance points located every 137 sq. miles all throughout the island and several thousand connect to any large city and large tunnel at a time. Should the main tunnel be destroyed there are crawl spaces on both sided, protected by a thick steel shell.
